What is the IberSelect Pathway?

The IberSelect Pathway is the journey players follow after being identified through the program. Starting with ID Camps and selection events, players can progress to State, Regional, National, and International teams while accessing opportunities such as elite tournaments, European club tryouts, Gap Year programs in Portugal, and U.S. college pathways.

The IberSelect

IberSelect is the official talent identification and international player development program within the IberCup ecosystem. It brings together selected players to represent their State, Region, or Country in elite international teams, competitions, and development experiences.

IBERSELECT GLOBAL PLAYER PATHWAY

IberSelect is IberCup’s player identification and development program, designed to connect talented young players with international football opportunities.

Through IberSelect ID Showcases, players are evaluated by experienced coaches and scouts and may be selected to join National, State, or Regional IberSelect teams.

These teams compete in IberCup international tournaments across different countries throughout the year, providing players with the opportunity to face strong international competition and gain exposure to scouts, coaches, and academy representatives.

ID Showcase

Players attend official scouting events where their performance is evaluated.

Selection

Top players are selected to represent National, State, or Regional IberSelect teams.

International Competition

Selected players compete in IberCup tournaments against teams from around the world.

European Exposure

Opportunities to attend tryouts, training experiences, or development programs in Portugal.

Future Opportunities

The pathway leads to international scouting, European football, U.S. college scholarships, and Gap Year programs in Portugal.

Meet Luis Dias

Luís Dias is a UEFA Pro Licensed coach with a remarkable history in developing top-tier football talent. With over 20 years at Sporting CP world renowned academy, he helped shape the careers of players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Rui Patrício, and William de Carvalho.

As Youth Coach for 15 seasons and Technical Coordinator for 6 seasons at Sporting CP, he played a key role in creating one of Europe's most successful youth development systems.

His success was evident at UEFA EURO 2016, where Portugal won the tournament with 14 players in the final squad having passed through his system: 14 played at Sporting CP, and 7 directly coached by Luís Dias.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports Science and a Postgraduate in Psychological Skills Training, blending technical and mental development in his coaching. He is also a certified UEFA C & B instructor and an active University Professor, contributing to coach education worldwide.
